NATEL Pushes the Boundaries in Lean Manufacturing
Following Six Sigma training, Natel embarked on implementing Lean Manufacturing in June 2003. Over the last eighteen months, under the commitment and support of Natel’s President, Sudesh Arora, the company has demonstrated spectacular results. Starting with one line, Lean Manufacturing principles have been gradually implemented in all manufacturing areas and are now being extended to enterprise functions such as sales, finance, personnel, document control and other departments.
Over the time period, first pass yields have steadily improved to record levels of over 99% for some weeks, based on an average of all the manufacturing areas. Natel has accomplished this by working diligently with its operations staff to cut defects at every stage of the manufacturing process. We also work with the vendors to ensure that defective components do not enter the manufacturing cycle. Natel is confident these results will benefit its customers through improved quality and shorter lead times.
