Scrantom/NATEL Goes to Mars
When operating in the harsh environment of MARS, millions of miles from earth, 24/7 reliability is a must. No wonder JPL decided to use LTCC substrates from Scrantom for the mission. The brazed LTCC substrate and ring-frame package was critical to the weight constraints for the clock driver on this space application, while at the same time met the severe environmental specifications.
Natel is proud to be a part of the Spirit and Opportunity Rovers that have pushed Mars Exploration beyond expectations and the boundaries of science even further. Both Rovers have provided spectacular imagery and have outlived their design life of 90 Martian days many times over. JPL continues to plan exploration of different parts and special features on Mars with these Rovers, while at the same time planning for new missions. Natel expects to continue contributing to these missions.
